Textured Scene

As part of my course on 3D I learnt how to properly unwrap and texture 3D models in 3DS Max in order to produce a fully textured scene including a character, that was later published to sketchfab.


The scene idea was of a giant skeleton of a fallen legendary creature, whose size is conveyed by spires of giant rock across a desert floor. Also in the scene are my character and his raptor ally.

The models were created both as high poly and low poly, so that I could project all the normal information from the high poly versions onto the low poly ones. This is much more efficient as it limits the amount of polys per object whilst retaining most of the details that the models required to look natural and complex.

These normal maps were used alongside the textures to create most objects in the scene, most noticeably the rock spires and the desert floor:
